It
is the policy of Balobi Processors (Pty) Ltd that
all staff at all levels must have an exceptionally
high regard for the safety, hygiene and quality
of all products produced.
In order to ensure the best products to our consumer,
only product from our Approved Suppliers List
of vessels will be accepted. Each vessel is subject
to Daily Trip Inspections.
Fresh
fish that is landed is required to go immediately
into ice or an ice slurry to ensure superior quality.
We keep ourselves informed about all our suppliers’
vessel capacities and insist on fish being chilled
to prevent the formation of histamine and other
bacterial infestations. All suppliers must adhere
to a strict cold-chain procedure and monitoring
system on board and during processing.
Our fish Processing Facility
with the EU code CE is fully HACCP approved.
HACCP is a system that identifies
specific biological, chemical and physical hazards
that affect the quality of the product and specifies
measures of their control. The aim of Balobi Group
is to achieve the highest percentage pass rate
for our annual NRCS audit in the Eastern Cape
of South Africa by rigorous application of the
HACCP system.
Our
key members of staff are certified HACCP team
leaders with clearly defined responsibilities
who meet regularly with the HACCP operational
team for review of the effectiveness of the system.
Balobi
Processors (Pty) Ltd adheres strictly to the seven
principles of the HACCP system to ensure target
and tolerance levels for quality and hygiene are
identified, documented, monitored, tested, corrected,
achieved and continually improved.
By
working together with our industry monitoring
agencies and suppliers, we focus on ensuring that
our products contain no additives and that each
specimen is traceable to its source.
Everything
we sell is completely natural and fresh.
We
have a well established recall procedure that
is tested regularly if any incidence of non-compliance
with regulations should ever arise. This is why
traceability of each specimen distributed by us
is key to our organization.
Waste
removal
All
waste at our facility is removed on an hourly
basis during production. Waste removal facilities
are placed at strategic points relative to production
flow and nominated staff monitor and remove waste
on an hourly basis.
In
order to ensure safety and hygiene of our products
to the consumer, our cleaning agents and disinfectants
are certified by an accredited institute for which
certificates are clearly displayed. We keep detailed
records of our suppliers.
No
pests are tolerated in any part of our facility.
A pest control company registered by the Department
of Agriculture controls pests and provides regular
updates on industry developments.
Detailed
procedures for cleaning and disinfection of processing
facilities before, during and after processing
are strictly adhered to.
